When is a good time to start pumping? Do they say we should wait a certain about of time before we start?

I started about a week after he was born. I pump once each morning to start building my stash for when I go back to work.

I don't know what is recommended, but they had me pumping in the hospital the day after delivery. I had to use a nipple shield and they were worried I wouldn't produce enough, so they had me pump for 10 minutes or so after feedings, 4-6 times a day. I breastfed/pumped for 2 months and always made enough. Not sure if I always made enough bc I started pumping immediately or if it really made a difference.
