Fetal doppler, are they bad or ok?

I really want to get one only to listen once in a while between appointments. I've heard mixed things about using them. So I don't want to order it yet. Is it OK or is it not ok?

They are fine, but sometimes it's hard to find the heartbeat so you may scare yourself. That's why I never bought one. I knew as soon as I couldn't find her one day I'd freak out, go to the ER, and they would find it in 2 seconds and I'd feel like an idiot!

Dopplers are meant for professionals, who are trained and experienced in finding and correctly identifying a baby's heartbeat. Not being able to find your baby's heartbeat could cause you a lot of worry. And you can't always be sure that it's your baby's heartbeat that you are hearing. It's very easy to pick up the sound of blood flowing through the placenta, or your own vessels, and mistake it for a heartbeat. This may cause you to be falsely reassured. I've had one since 13weeks (currently 26weeks). In the beginning it was frustrating to find and identify my baby girls heartbeat but I had went to YouTube to see if there were any tricks/tips to help me find her heartbeat on my own. YouTube was a lifesaver and my Doppler had kept me sane throughout this pregnancy. Just make sure wen u do purchase one that you do take your time and if u do get frustrated about not being to find it that you take a break and try again.

Dopplers have been used for many many years on regular basis and not ONE single case of ANY PROBLEM has ever been linked to a doppler.

Yes they are safe and pretty easy to use once u know what u are doing and are familiar enough and patient. I'm pregnant with twins and I've had one since 14 weeks. Havent had an issue yet. Im 27 weeks now. My docs dont even use because of twins and can be hard to find hb therefore i have a sono every visit. However i find both hbs pretty easy, can distinguish between the umblical cord n placenta and my own sounds and know which baby hb is which. Not to mention i can tell their positioning( breech or head down) my main purpose for use these days now that i feel movement. 4 children 5th pregnancy first time purchase of doppler
