So I am 20 years old I have been sexually active for four years and have been using the withdrawal method. However I want to be more safe and use birth control. Any recommendations? I don't want my period to be irregular and I've heard bc does that? Also who do you see for bc your primary or obgyn

I wouldn't recommend any birth control ....too many risks and side affects ....stick to condoms

You can see either your primary, or an ob, totally up to you. If the primary sees something concerning or something they don't feel comfortable with treating they may refer you. Some of my friends with bad family history of reproductive problems choose to see an ob regardless.

Also birth control does not make you irregular (unless you try depo, don't try depo). I was on the pill for 3-4 years, before I had heavy painful irregular periods, they were regulated and much easier on the pill. I stopped the pill and they were irregular again but still much less painful for the two cycles I had before becoming pregnant.
