do you want to know the gender?

Question

I always thought I would never want to know. But since getting pregnant, I've started to waver. I have time to decide still, but not sure what I am going to do yet. My man and I will decide together, but now I am not sure....
What made you decide either way to know or not know the gender?

I don't want to know... For me it doesn't and shouldn't matter. They are a baby and a beautiful child.

My husband does want to know, so we made a compromise based on a lot of trust. I made a card for the sonographer that said "Congratulations Daddy it's a ________!" She filled in the blank and included a picture. Then sealed the card and gave it to him. He can open it whenever he is ready to know, but he can't tell me and if he tells anyone else they can't tell me.  I want him to have a pregnancy experience that is his own, and I will have mine.

It won't work for everyone, but it's good for us.

Whatever you decide will be what's right fit you and your family, and that's all that matters.

It wasn't even a question whether or not we'd find out our beforehand, we would. I'm a planner, and I'm not gender neutral. I wanted to know with subsequent children if I needed to unpack old clothes or get clothes from my niece. I also liked that we could narrow down names. Plus, to me, it's a 'surprise' finding out at 20w just as it is at birth.

I really wanted a boy ... but was convinced it was a girl... and I did not want people to buy a TON of ruffled stuff... so we found out and then just told everyone we decided not to find out! 😏

Yes I'm very anxious to know just so I can plan ahead and be more prepared when they arrive. But women didn't know for years and somehow got by lol

I knew with the 2 oldest, but not with the 2 youngest. It was better not knowing :)

I will start off by saying, I am a planner and didn't find out. I have 2 and never knew before they arrived.

I don't buy a lot of newborn clothes because I'm old school and keep the baby home (outside of dr appts) the first few months.

Whatever you decide is fine. Don't let others convince you otherwise.

With my first two (girl, then boy) I didn't find out, I wanted to do everything old school and all natural. I'm gender neutral, so it was never an issue, I wanted that old fashioned announcement when the midwife pulls it out!  But, somehow I already knew both times. 
With the third, I didn't want to know, but my new husband was never going to wait. I thought it was a girl, but he's a boy! 
This time... I want to know, because I really want another girl! And I'll need time to come to terms with a third boy.

We don't find out. It gives us something to anticipate and trust me it gets you through the labor!

I did not want to, but not in a severe way, husband wanted to find out. Now, I'm really glad we did, just wish I hadn't told everyone else. We are into gender neutral and everyone knowing that we're having twin boys apparently gave free license to only buy stuff that was blue with sports balls or dump trucks on it!

This is my third baby in 19 years and I have never found out. I plan for a baby and get adorable things without the need to plan for a baby girl or a baby boy. What do you do with a pink stroller when baby number 2 is a boy? I love choosing two names and not knowing who I'll meet until delivery. My babies all had a nickname before birth and were never called 'it". In fact, we don't even share our name choices with people until the baby is born. Besides all of that, it is certainly fun listening to predictions and bets for the entire 9 months. I insisted I was having a girl and now I'm convinced it's a boy. I find out in 9 weeks :-)
