So my son is 9 days old and I know that technically "breastfeeding shouldn't hurt if you're doing it right", but I swear we're doing it right and my freakin' nipples are sore as hell. Is it just an adjustment period that my nips need to go through? The initial maybe 5-7 seconds of a feeding are the WORST, and then the pain sort of subsides. His lips are fished out and around my aereola, so I'm pretty certain he's got a good latch. But Jesus Christ, I wish my nipples weren't so sore! Looking for advice from experienced breastfeeding mamas. Should I be worried and seek out a lactation consultant? Or will my nips eventually toughen up? Thanks!!
