moms, is my house too big?

Question

We're looking at buying a nearly 3,000 sqft home. It has a big open kitchen dining room, a fireplace/library room, a living/family room, master suite, and 3 bedrooms upstairs. We're expecting our first baby but would like to have many close together! My parents would also probably come stay with us during summers. 
Do you think this is too much house right now? Or do you think we'll use it or at least grow into it?

It's probably going to feel like way too much at the beginning. But once you have kids, and you get enough furniture to fill the place, you'll love all the space. Especially when you have family staying with you

If you can afford it and want to keep up with it then I say go for it. You will grow into it eventually! It's a pretty big house but realistically, if it's a house you want to be in for a long long time then you should go for it!

We just bought a 2,600sqft house with a detached guest house out back! We figured we'd grow into it, since we want more kids back to back also. And a guest room since my family lives in South Carolina, and we're in Texas. It seems as if our house is swallowing us at the moment until we get more furniture but it's nice since we have so much we can do with the place :) Endless possibilities! Space is priceless.

Nope sounds perfect! We have a 4000 sqft house 6 beds 4 bath. So far just my husband, daughter, and i. We only plan on one more baby. So we have our room, daughters room, a nursery, an office, a playroom, and a spare bedroom that has its own bathroom in it. Its perfect! You will be thankful for the space later!

We live in a 750 square foot apartment, I can't even imagine living in a place that big. It sounds lovely though 😊

The main thing is, can u afford it? & not just the monthly mortgage payments but upkeep, water/sewer/garbage, & electricity or gas, bigger places cost more to heat/cool & maintain. If u can afford everything then go for it, you'll probably love the extra space but if u can't afford it then u can make a smaller space work. Hubs & I (& my almost 6 year old stepson) bought a 2000 sqf house 3 bedrooms, 1 & 3/4 baths, the kitchen is small & closed off but everything else is good sized, it would have been great to have one more bedroom to use as a guest room/office (since my baby girl will be taking over the 3rd bedroom in Feb. 2017 :) but we will just make the downstairs family room serve 3 purposes.

Perfect size. I lived in multiple houses growing up, one being 3200 sf, another being 6000 sf and the current one being 2000 sf. I've loved them all. Just depends on the layout.

I dont think so. I have a 5 bd house and we have 3 kids with one on the way. When we bought it we didnt need all this house but im so glad we bought big anyways becausr moving is lame but moving with little humans sucks lol! Sounds like a beautiful house!
