My son is 10 days old. We're heading to a wedding tonight. Is 1 glass of wine at dinner ok and still nurse?!

Yes. If you're sober enough to drive you're sober enough to nurse.

When baby was new:

I would nurse and immediately have my drink. It would be mostly gone by next feed this way. I would use a blood alcohol app to track that it was all metabolized. Felt guilty if she had a surprise feed sooner than I'd thought.

By 2 months: sober enough to drive means sober enough to nurse. No apps, no timing,  just common sense. No guilt.

Yes it takes an hour for it to leave breast milk. Nurse baby right before you have a drink then about the time the baby will eat again it will be out of the breast milk.

Your blood alcohol level will be the alcohol level in your breast milk.

Personally I have one small glass of wine with dinner at night. If baby is still awake and I know she will be feeding within the hour I will only take small sips and won't drink the rest until I know she is down for at least 2 hours.

There are apps out there that can help you time how long it takes for a drink to get out of your system.

I would just try to time it so that when you nurse it is 2 hours after you've had the glass of wine. By then most of the alcohol should be out of your system! :)
