How do you ask your partner to get tested with you?

He's had quite a few partners (10+) and I'm a virgin. I trust him, but I would like to make sure we're both clean before we have sex (I'm clean, obviously). He knows I'm a virgin and wants the first time to be special for me. One thing that would make me more comfortable would be knowing he's 100% free of STIs. I just don't know how to approach the subject. I don't want him to be offended and I don't really know what to say.

Just tell him,  for your own protection  to get checked out. It's a simple blood work or pee test.  If he doesn't understand he's not worth your virginity.

That's not offensive. Tell him you are smart and cautious and that you would like to take the next step with him and in order to do that you want to be safe. If he cares about you and is considerate he should have absolutely no problem doing that for you.

Tell him you'd rather have sex for the first time without a condom but in order to do that you both need to be tested. No need to give him an ultimatum or put too much pressure on it, let him have some time to think about it and do it. But stick to your guns in this one because reason is on your side.

Honestly, I don't think it's rude to ask. It's a great idea, and let's you both feel safe. However, keep in mind some things, like HPV in men, can't be tested for, or don't show up for a while. HIV can take 3 months to build up enough to show.

Just tell him. Say you want to be sure since you can have things with zero symptoms. If he refuses break up with him. He isn't worth it.
