What Age to start?

I'm 14 and I have my first serious boyfriend I've known him for awhile say what you want I do love him he's never pushed having sex like ever but my mom said if I ever feel like our relationship will be more than just make outs she would put me on the pill I am grateful for that but Idk if I should start the pill j just started having my period last year but it is extremely regular....plz help

I don't think 14 is too young to go on the pill. I started taking the pill at 15, lost my virginity at 18, and am still on the pill now at 27. I think it's better safe then sorry. If you don't end up having sex no harm done and if you do you're protected. Remember there is nothing wrong with waiting if that's what you want and there is also nothing wrong with having sex if you feel ready as long as you are protected and educate yourself first! Just don't rush into sex and end up regretting it. If you're with the right person he'll wait 🙂

I was 14 when I started! Don't let anyone tell you to be ashamed of the age you get birth control etc. It's your decision, I think it's a great idea to always be protected, even if you're not in a serious relationship. Don't be afraid!

Hey girl, I saw your poll on the same topic, and since there's 94 comments on there I figured I'd comment here instead.

There will be people who tell you that 14 is too young, that 14 is fine and it's your body your choice, that they regretted losing their virginity early, that they didn't regret it....it's only going to confuse you because none of that applies to YOU. You have your own special relationship with your boyfriend, your own friends, your own life story. Other women's experiences won't define how it will be for you.

your body, your choice. at the gynecologist anyone over the age of 12 is an adult and is able to schedule appointments on their own. it's good you are being responsible enough to get on birth control if you feel that's where your relationship is going. better safe than sorry.

I won't tell you that my experience is exactly how it will be for you. But I can tell you what I have learned. I lost my virginity at 16 to my boyfriend of 9 months. We were head over heels in love with each other. We stayed together for 2 years after, broke up for a while, got back together for another 2 years, and finally split up for good. Then I went on to have some other serious relationships, some single hookups in college, and now I'm 26 years old, married to the love of my life, and expecting a baby in March. Here is what I learned along the way.

- If you're sure you're in love, you have a mature relationship with great communication, you understand how to protect yourself from BOTH std's and pregnancy, and you won't let yourself get careless about protection, then it's ok to lose your virginity as a teenager
- I'm really glad I did absolutely everything else sexually with my boyfriend before having intercourse. It taught us to be intimate and comfortable before reaching the ultimate intimacy with sex
- I'm also really glad I waited 9 months and really gave it a lot of thought and consideration before going through with it. There is no point in rushing, and with time your love should only grow so you're not risking anything by waiting. You're just adding to the feeling behind the action.
- I don't wish I was still with my high school boyfriend, but I'm glad I got to discover sex with him because he was a kind, loving guy and we learned about love and sex together
- Through my other relationships after him, I learned that you should be careful who you share your sexual energy with. If it's a good relationship, it can lift you up. If it's an unhealthy one, it can steal your inner light, cheapen your sense of self worth, and numb you. Your sexual energy is sacred and special. Treat it that way.

I feel that 14 is a little young age wise but is you feel your ready and mature enough then go ahead just know that there's nothing long with waiting and if your ever with someone who doesn't want to wait for you there not worth your time

Before I lost my virginity, I was accused of having sex with my boyfriend at the time when I didn't! My mom threatened the pill on me and I refused because my period was regular and I didn't want to put hormones in my body if I didn't need to. A few months later I started having sex but still didn't like the idea of the pill. It wasn't until my bf at the time brought up the idea of unprotected sex that I felt the need to get on the pill. I didn't tell my mom because I was only 16. I've been on the pill for about 2 yrs now and it's worked I haven't gotten pregnant lol and it's nice knowing exactly when ur period is coming.it also helps with my severe cramps and acne but did cause a little weight gain at first but after my body adjusted to it I went back to my normal weight.the only sucky part is having to take it at the same time everyday, I still miss days sometimes.id say wait until you're ready.i still wasn't even ready when I started having sex.its definitely a lot of responsibility because if you miss more than a few days in a month it makes it wayyyy easier to get pregnant
