yeast infections?

I have a yeast infection right now(the doctor told me it was so don't go on saying I have an std or something, also I only have 1 sexual partner and we both have been checked) anyways it's very mild, so I used the montistat 1 medication just because I didn't really want to use the 3 or 7 day treatment, but is there anything I can do to soothe the soreness while the treatment is taking its course? I put it in last night and now it's the medication is dissolving, but my vagina burns, my itching stopped which I'm happy about! I know I should of used the 7 day one, but I'm very impatient when it comes to wanting to relieve my lady parts, please help what can I do to ease the burning and soreness. Also I have only had 1 other yeast infection before this, and it was after I started birth control, is there anything I can do to prevent them?
