pregnant or false alarm?

So, This week I was spotting randomly. I thought not much of it until my husband told me this happened last time before I found out I was pregnant with my first child. However, I think it's because I've had a stressful week & that my period is coming up soon. I'm going to buy a pregnancy test to find out whether or not I am because even this little situation makes us a little stressed. Did anyone else have this problem? & what type of test would be best?
