When is it acceptable to try for a baby? Why?

Children shouldn't have children.

Once you've established your life, finished developing physically and psychologically (23ish for women and 25 for men), are in a long-term, healthy and committed relationship, and can financially provide the life your child deserves, then you should actively try to have kids.

I've wanted a baby since I was around 17... but knew that was too young and fortunately I didn't as the relationship didn't work out. I'm 23 now almost 24, and feel ready and stable enough to have a baby with my fiancé. My mum had me when she was 19 and my sister when she was 17, and although she doesn't regret it, she says how hard it was being a young mum, but it can be done!! Just whenever you feel ready and can financially support you and the baby :)

You need more ages. Teenagers are typically not prepared physically or mentally for kids. There's a lot of considerations. I'm not saying that older people have it all figured out but there are a lot of things such as finances, maturity, stability, and even just having bodies be physically more mature to birth of a child

It's not about age. If you at least graduated from high school and can obtain a decent job and pay for yourself and a place to live. It helps to have a supportive spouse or partner to help you. But if you're a 19 year old with a job and can afford a place to live and afford a baby than go ahead. Maturity does make a difference though. They say our brains aren't fully developed until 25. Just make sure you understand how much your life will change and the sacrifices you'll have to make. You also have to think of maternity leave and do you have a job that pays you while on leave or will you have to save to pay for your bills. Then you have to think about daycare and paying for that. I'm 27 and due Nov 10th, I still get nervous thinking about how much our lives will change. It's not just us anymore. Birth and raising a child is scary. I hope my child turns out ok! Lol

I'm 20, married, and actively TTC. My husband (22) has a wonderful job and we just bought our first house. We are in a financial situation where I'd also be able to be a SAHM and not have to stress over bills. But at this age it's super rare to be ready financially. We are blessed. I think you should be at least 20 and financially stable.

There is no age, it's when the couple feel mentally and emotionally ready, when they can support a baby, have somewhere to stay for the future, and when they are both ready for the responsibility. For some it's 16, for some it's 30+, and for some it's never, it's all dependant on the couple, not the age.
