who is actually following the new wic guidelines for formula

Did anyone else get told by the pediatrician to start boiling ur water and mix the hot water wit formula right away to kill bacteria that formula has..

I thought it was because room temperature store bought water held bacteria. I know one thing if you don't boil it the same fungi Candida albicans that cause yeast infections in women causes thrush in the mouth of babies. My MIL didn't boil my nephew water and just mixed it with room temp store bought milk and he had thrush at a week old.

Powder formula is not sterile! You can buy liquid concentrate or ready to feed formula which is sterile. They are a little more expensive but you don't have to worry about the sterile or non sterile stuff! But people have been using powder formula for years so I doubt it's anything to worry about as long as you have clean hands when preparing it

That doesn't make much sense to me. I don't think there should be bacteria in it anyways. & then you have to give the bottles time to cool down. Plus, wouldn't boiling water also destroy some of the nutrients in the formula?

You're not even suppose to do that to warm breast milk bc of the same reason. Kills nutrients. I'd be asking another doctor.

We have always just used room temp bottled water. Dr he no issues with that and in over a year have not had any issues from it. My son hates warm or cold bottles.

I read if you use boiling water with formula it kills the nutrients in the formula🤔

If u read the formula box it says that it not sterile. My doc gave me a paper saying to boil the water and wait two minutes and mix it wit formula while the water still hot.. now that I'm reading comments I wondered if it kills all the nutrients that formula has.. my doc got the paper from wic so that handled out the flyer

Never heard of tha .. wic told me if I had r use tap water to bowl it 1st than let it cool n use it .. I premake my bottles n than use the bottle warmer to heat the formula up ..only cause I notices my son has an easier time swollen the formula like that
