Folic acid is key, if you take that it lowes the chances of birth defects

At the very least you need to take folic acid. Prenatals cant hurt, especially if you're not eating as well as you should be.

Prenatals are for the mother. Since the baby is taking a lot of your nutrients the prenatals help you regain some so you hopefully feel a bit better and aren't extremely weak. I'd say its definitely beneficial to take them for yourself. If swallow pills make you sick try gummies less harsh of the stomach.
