If I start breastfeeding on my right side and then halfway through, switch to my left, do I start with my right side again the next time I nurse?

You can. As long as you're alertnating sides it doesn't really matter. I used to just feel which was bigger. Whatever side was bigger was typically the side I started with first.

I've read and been told by my lactation consultant to start with the opposite you started from at the last feeding. Sometimes well most of the time in the first month I forgot which one I started with. My daughter hasn't had any problem taking either I start with, I try to switch it up but sometimes I still forget. I believe it's mainly so they don't develop a preference.

If you only offer one side per feeding then do the opposite side the next time you feed. If you switch sides and the second side was not fully emptied then start on that side. I was switching too quickly and my daughter was not getting enough hind milk.
