Baby here 9/29-due 10/4. SCARY delivery 😭

Amber
I had such a traumatic delivery 😭. I went into the hospital and ended up staying 5 days, and my poor little guy will graduate NICU tomorrow and we will bring him home finally. I just want to say to all the NICU families and nurses that it's not easy and no one prepares you for this. I was so scared after and I've had such a bad recovery-make sure you reach out and talk to someone about it. No matter how horrible things were for us, we are both alive and I am beyond thankful for that ❤️.
For those wondering- I had what's called Chorioamnionitis. It's usually due to prolonged rupture. However I didn't have a prolonged rupture. I went in on my own in labor 2cm dilated and went home to labor for 6 hours. Came back at 3cm and got an epidural by 8pm. Then by midnight I was spiking a fever of 104, my heart rate was elevated (I have a heart history but have been fine) and they thought I had the flu. I had a respiratory test done and it was negative for any type of flu or respiratory illness. I thought something was up bc they turned off the pitocin and I sat at 3cm all night. They kept asking me to change positions and kept making me drink milk and juice and I knew something had to be wrong. She kept saying the only other thing they would be afraid of was this chorio (for short) but I definitely didn't have it because nothing smelled like it. And my water had been leaking but again nothing smelled. She waited for my OB to come in in the morning but they started IV antibiotics during the night  and they went to finish breaking my water-turns out it had never broke. It smelled horrible and it wasn't good. The OB told me I had chorio, and they turned the pitocin back on hoping he would still come out on his own because I was normally healthy young etc. the best explanation I have of chorio is that it's an infection that occurs in the fetal membranes and can make a baby super sick. It's an automatic 7 days of antibiotics and an NICU stay. I was dilated to a 10, but then he started to not like labor or the pitocin so I had an emergency c section that went bad. He wasn't breathing at all and then he had to go to NICU and that's where his journey started. I went to post partum and got sent to recovery and almost ICU. I almost died. My heart rate was so high they couldn't control it, same with fever, and blood pressure. Finally got it under control and now I have to see a cardiologist.
But, he was worth every single second. I'm just happy I get a second chance at being his mom. If anyone ever needs to reach out-I'm here for you!
