Babies

So, my boyfriend and I have always talked about having kids and we just recently decided that we wouldn't mind having one some time soon, so we aren't taking any precautions to prevent it. The truth is I would love to have a baby with him and we both make plenty of money to support one, but for some reason I am scared to death at the thought of having a baby. I think I am just afraid of losing it or that we somehow won't give him the life he deserves. Am I not ready? Or is all of this normal?
