relationship advice needed 😭

My boyfriend of almost 4 years and I haven't always gotten along great, I'll admit that. We've had our fair share of fights. We have been each others first everything. First time, First kiss, first date. Everything. Out of the blue he told me he thinks we don't connect. He said he loves me but we need to see if our relationship is really what we want. And maybe to see other people. But I can't even imagine seeing someone else and I won't. So he said that we needed a break. When I asked for how long, he said however long it takes. And that we might come back together, but we might not. My heart feels beyond broken and there's nothing I can do about it. I don't know how I can even attempt to get him back. I love him beyond comprehension 😭 but I'm afraid there's someone else.
