advice about insurance covered breast pump?

turns out my specific insurance plan only offers ONE pump, no choices at all. i was wondering if anyone here thinks i could possibly sell the pump they offer and use the money towards the pump i want or at least a different option?
i feel like i should be happy with whatever they give me but it's my nipples on the line here 😔

*guess i should re word this, my insurance does not cover the cost of a pump at all but has referred me to a different program as an option to obtain one, that's why i have no options of pumps, and no options of upgrades... i really thought i could just get the pump that i had researched and decided on through reviews but i would just have to go out of pocket if i want something different*

You probably wouldn't make much off of it, depending on the pump and also it's illegal to sell it cause you got it free from your insurance. Just sayin lol

Maybe see if you can pay the difference to upgrade to the pump of your choice?

Generally if you chose not to take the one they cover the cost of, they'll cover a certain percentage of an alternate model. But keep in mind, for them to do this you have to use the script given from your doctor through a medical supply company, who also may not have what you're looking for.

Is your plan an American based plan because if is they are required to supply a breast pump under the Obama care. If your doctor for a justified medical reason writes a script for the pump they have to cover it. It is the law. But you could sell the pump and buy what you want it is not illegal as some have stated. Your not a retailer but making a private sell.

What insurance do you have? Breast pumps are actually supposed to be covered now as it was part of the aca policy.

You might try going specifically to a company like aeroflow or through targets website for the info for theirs etc. and just see if they get a different result being a medical supply company.

Your insurance may just be being jerky with you to not actually cover it when they are supposed to.

Last year I went through targets website. This year I went through aeroflow as I really wanted a spectra s2 this time. My insurance covers one pump per pregnancy. Some insurances I have heard its one per lifetime.

Also I highly doubt you can sell it. My pump came in a box marked not for resale not just for a store to sell but stating I can't sell it as well.

Look into targets breast pump deals. I know someone told me they got one for free from target somehow

I was disappointed that I only had one to choose from as well,  it still ordered it. I'd rather have something than nothing and not have to pay for it. The baby bottles that I bought fit the breast pump, so that was a plus that I don't need to buy extra bottles. Look at the bright side of it.
