It's crazy, right? 
We have a 4 year old and I'm almost 10 weeks pregnant with number 2. We've been thinking about a dog for a long time. I had dogs before I left for college, so I do know what a huge amount of work it will end up being. But I think we can handle it. He's a little lab mix and is 8 weeks old and we're going to go meet him tonight! His name is elbow. My son said we can call him elbow noodles.

If you can give the puppy the attention he deserves and the promise of a lifelong home while keeping up with a newborn and a 4 year old, then yes!

The puppy and his siblings are being fostered by a friend. Their mom died giving birth and they were given to the local rescue society because their family couldn't take care of newborn puppies. They're 8 weeks and ready to go to homes. We've been looking for a dog for awhile. 
Currently his name is Elbow. When we told my 4 year old he said "we can call him noodles!" Elbow Noodles. A weird name, but possibly the right name. 
I'm a little nervous about the extra work, but I think we can handle it. I'll post a picture if we decide to take him. We meet him Saturday morning!

If you're going on get a puppy I think it's now or way down the road.  If you get him now it will give you time to train him before the baby comes. I got a puppy at 6 weeks pregnant and now I'm 40 weeks, she's perfect and trained and obsessed with my belly and I'm more than excited for my baby to grow up with a dog!

I personally would get a dog, not a puppy. Potty training them and training them takes a lot of work. I have a hard enough time taking care of my dog with a newborn. I couldn't imagine a puppy.

Why not rescue an older dog(over 1 year old). That way it's more likely to be house trained and know some commands. We rescued our youngest when he was 9 weeks and I told my husband that if I ever asked for a puppy again to remind me of the hell that we went through. I can't imagine dealing with a puppy while pregnant or having a nb
