Only child

Does anyone else only want to have one child? Every time i say that people give me a weird look and say "well who is he/she going to play with??" Someone even told me "that's not a family." It's just expensive having kids and I'd rather devote myself fully to one child. My husband wants two but I've made it clear many times that we're stopping at one. Anyone else feel similar?
