When is it time to switch formula?

Hey all, so my baby is 4 weeks old. She is on Similac Advanced formula. She tends to twist and turn her little torso to pass gas or a bm and also grunts and make these faces like she's in pain. Docs and family told me that's because of gas and all babies go through it And that babies are still learning how to bear down. As soon as she passes gas or poops, she's back to being relaxed. I tried giving her gas drops to help her but she's still fussy. 
Now I dunno if this is because of gas and it's time to change formula or if all babies go through this no matter the formula. 
What are some signs baby showed that made you change formula? Is this normal in all babies? Your input will be helpful.

I went through the same issue. She grunted and groaned and was overall unhappy on a few formulas until we found the right one. We eventually had to switch to soy because everything was hurting her little tummy. We have been on soy for 4 months and everything is A-okay!!

You really have to experiment and wait two weeks before changing formulas so that you can see if it helps baby or if it's the same.

We had trouble with constipation and gas.  Thought it was formula so we switched but didn't help.  Pediatrician had us give him stone prune juice in his bottle for a little bit and we went back to the original formula.  Helped tremendously. Now that he is almost 4 months he seems to be over the problem and doesnt need the juice anymore!

I breastfed my baby and she had problems with gas too. It may be the type of formula, and if it's painful enough for her maybe try switching. But I do think that most babies just go through this for a spell.

Have you tried gripe water yet? It worked better than gas drops for my twins.
