if you are pregnant and are bleeding, then something is wrong and you should see a doctor. Trust me, I'm going to school for massage therapy and all my teachers are doctors of different typeS. We learned about this in school. My mom bled throughout her pregnancy with me and she ended up having cervical cysts and pregnancy problems. Spotting is normal but if you have a "regular period" with a significant amount of blood, it's time to see a doctor.
