how to increase breast milk supply?

I have been pumping because my nipples are really sore. My daughter was born 9/29 and I started pumping 2 days ago. I can't pump more than 2 1/2 ounces . What is the norm to be pumping ? I have to supplement her with formula because she is not full. She ends up eating about 6 ounces... is that normal? How can I increase my milk supply?

6 ounces might be a lot but if she's not spitting up afterwards then irs probably fine. I tried fenugreek and didn't really notice an increase. But then I tried this drink called Panela. It's famous in Columbia for breastfeeding mothers to keep there supply high. You can find it at a Hispanic super market or at a supermarket in a Hispanic community. It's a brick of pure cane sugar and you melt it down in 2 liters of hot/ boiling water until it is completely dissolved. Once it's dissolved you cab add more water to each serving. You should drink 16 ounces every 2-3 hours and you'll see a difference in how much you pump. I couldn't believe it myself! Also continue to drink a lot of water throughout the day. If you can't find it in your local super market then try ordering it online. Good luck! I hope you haven't given up!

Well first, how much does your daughter weigh? Because 6 oz at 1 feeding is too much for a newborn.

6 ounces is way too much for baby. She should be eating 2 to 3 ounces about every 2 hours. Your producing just as much as you should. If you want to produce more to make,a,goos,freezer stahs, pump 15 minutes each side after nursing and drink a big glass of water after each feeding. It will take time but you'll be producing enough. I was getting 2 ounces roughly with my first at a week old.

6 ounces is a lot for a newborn, but it's based on wieght so it doesn't necessarily mean anything. My lactation consultant told me to pump for ten minutes after breast feeding to trick my body into thinking I have twins to double my milk. I'm also taking blessed thistle and fenugreek. Lactation cookies are a good way to up production too. 
You can also power pump, there are different ways to power pump but they're all effective. Check on Pinterest and choose one that fits you. Good luck!
