Anyone else experience mental health changes with birth control? Anxiety, depression, etc.?

Every time I'm on birth control, I've tried to the IUD and pill now and they both alter my mood SO much. My sex drive is non-existent and I'm back to feeling depressed and have an increase in anxiety. When I was off the pill I felt normal but my GYN told me to stay on it to prevent cysts from forming. I'm thinking of going against his word for the sake of my own mind. Any ideas? Anyone can relate?

I just go really tired and couldn't be arsed with sex. My sister however, cried all the time, was always getting mad at me, my mum and don't get me started on her bf. She just became a raging lunatic. I definitely think different types of pills have different types of effects. If you already have hormonal imbalances or are sensitive in general, I think it can definitely have an effect. My sister came off it in the end and we're all very thankful. Try researching alternatives and ask your gyno if they may have any suggestions...

All contraception that i tried made me feel severely bi polar, i never knew what i was feeling or why i felt that way, my anxiety was extremely high and i had very irrational thoughts! I was very irratable and also put on a lot of weight, ive now been off tablets and the contraception bar and only use condoms now, from ive quit the other methods i feel a lot better and my moods seem to be back to normal and my anxiety is not as heighting, going off these other methods was the best thing i ever done for myself
