While pregnant, does everyone take vitamins?

I'm 13 weeks, haven't had a sit down with the midwife yet (found out late) I haven't taken any vitamins or minerals or anything. Just trying to eat healthy, organic etc when possible. 
If you do take vitamins, what do you take and did the mid wife recommend them specifically for you after tests or do you just take them cause you've been recommend them?

You actually do not need to take prenatals to have a healthy baby. I have hyperemesis and I'm unable to take vitamins, like many other women and our babies turn out fine. The most important time for prenatals is for at least 6 months before you conceive. While pregnant, your baby takes what it needs from your stored up vitamins and minerals.

You need to take a prenatal multivitamin when you are ttc till breastfeeding. Your body needs extra vitamins and mineral to help nourish both you and your baby.

Folic acid is very important in the first couple weeks. Calcium is important to help develop the baby's bones in later weeks. If you don't have enough calcium your body will take it from your bones which is why many women have brittle bones when they get older (osteoporosis). Many more vitamins and minerals are necessary. A healthy whole food diet with a plant based prenatal is optimal for pregnancy.

Larger doses of vitamins and minerals can be harmful which is why your midwife suggested getting tested. However a plant based prenatal multivitamin will only help your body and baby.

You're supposed to start prenatal vitamins right away, it's really important, especially in your first trimester, for your baby to get folic acid.

They're highly recommended. Start taking them now. Eating "organic" isn't going to give you everything you need.

I started folic acid 2 months before trying to conceive. I was told that as soon as you find out you're pregnant you need to take folic acid if you haven't already started, and vitamin d. I got given multivitamins by the midwife at my first appointment and have been taking them throughout my pregnancy

A) there were recommended. I have an MTHFR mutation so getting Folic acid is hard for me
B) I didn't see any real harm in taking them. Mostly want is t absorbed is peed out. 
C) I take them when I remember and don't stress about it. But I always feel good taking them - like its a little love I pass on.
