Percentile? Confused

I had a ultra sound and the doctor said I'm in the 4. Something percentile and I'm supposed to be 10 percentile I'm almost 33 weeks and I'm going to start going in ever week to make sure he's growing. Can anyone explain this percentile to me? First pregnancy and so confused.

Call your doctor and ask for a detailed explanation and the exact numbers... explain that you're unsure what they meant and that you'd like to know what it means now and for the future of your pregnancy.

Could mean IUGR which means they may take baby sooner than later. Babies grow better out than in when this happens. Babies usually do great! Keep us updated! :)

They like to see the fetal growth at the 10th percentile or higher. Anything under that could possibly be an indicator of some type of fetal growth restriction.

My daughters growth completely fell off the growth curve. It was figured out about a week later that she was no longer getting nutrients through the umbilical cord at 27 weeks and therefore was no longer growing.

Never leave an appointment confused, or with a million questions. You've got to ask questions, even when it seems inconvenient or annoying, ask until you understand what's happening with YOUR baby. It's really important. 
That being said, they want to see baby in at least the 10th percentile for growth, if you're consistently measuring smaller, there may be issues with your placenta or baby. Sometimes, though, babies are small and end up catching up by the next appointment.
