Gender vs. sex โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ

Rebecca
Hello everyone!ย
In the interest of trans-inclusion, I think it's important to talk about this topic. There's a lot of talk using "gender" and "sex" interchangeably, so I just wanted to clarify: according to The World Health Organization--
"Sexย refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women.ย Genderย refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women."
When you do in for a scan, you're finding out the sex of the baby, not the gender. In fact, gender may not be something your kid has a feeling about until toddler-age or older, and they may not feel they fit into our prescribed categories of male/female (maybe gender non-conforming, nonbinary). "Gender-reveal party" is actually a misnomer, as who knows how the kid will identify!ย
Anyway just wanted to bring this topic up!ย
