31 weeks, I think I just lost my mucus plug?

Question

31 weeks today and I had a large slightly bloody/mostly thick whitish green discharge in my underwear when I woke up this morning. It was a lot. Like probably the same size as the palm of my hand. Ive been having very small amounts of clear discharge for weeks so it's definitely unusual. I think it's my mucus plug? But I thought you didn't lose that for many more weeks? My doctors office is closed today and I don't really want to go to the hospital. Is this normal? Should I go in?

It's normal to start losing it now, even with a Lil blood.  The green could mean infection though so I'd get it checked out just to be sure.

I thought I lost mine and my midwife said it can be a mixture of thrush/water infection, to monitor the blood/any pain and keep an eye out on baby movement...

It was only a tint of green- but my underwear was a dark green so I think it had to do with that. I went and got checked and midwife said it's fine, just to watch for fluids or contractions. Scary! And gross but at least it's not anything worse. They tested to make sure I wasn't leaking amniotic fluid- I wasn't. So all good for now!

Call your doctor but I'm sure they say don't worry about it unless you leak fluids.....with my last daughter I lost my mucus plug at 30 weeks and still didn't have her until 39 weeks.

Does your Dr office have an after hour number you can call? Or can you leave a voicemail and expect someone to be checking to give you a call back. If it's not your mucus plug , it's most likely an infection and will be need a appointment ASAP to get it figured out . That way if it is an infection they can get you the proper medicine so it won't cause any harm to you or the baby.
