Partial molar pregnancy (aftermath)
Hi everyone,
I am really lost right now and hoping that others out there may have, at some point, been in my shoes. I am 33 years old and have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 2 years. We'd really like to have a family. Unfortunately I had a partial molar pregnancy and D&C 2 months ago at 10 weeks pregnant. I had a surgical D&C during which I was under general in a hospital. Initially my hcg levels were 470,000 (day before surgery) and dropped drastically the week after. Since then they have dropped so slowly, as follows:
470,000 (8/18)
24,000 (8/24)
11,000 (8/30)
8,024 (9/7)
7,834 (9/15)
7,514 (9/21)
6,000 (9/28)
4,223 (10/6)
When they hovered around 8-7,000, my doctor sent me to see an oncologist, who discussed the next step: chemo. Fortunately the next week they dropped once again and have slowly continued. So avoided chemo for now, but now back to the awful waiting game.
I'm having so much trouble with all of this, though. It doesn't seem like anyone has ever gone through this; no one talks about it. None of my friends or family had ever even heard about any of these specific problems before me. And the more I Google, the more alone I feel. I read about people who are stressed because their levels plateau at 5 after 4 weeks; I am 8 weeks in and still at 4000. I feel like this is never, ever going to end, and getting my blood work done every week prevents me from being able to move on. It's brutal to have to revisit this and wait in the waiting room with healthy pregnant women every week. I guess I just want to know that someone else has experienced what I am and made it through. I'd really like to have a baby. And I'd really like to be healthy again. Any advice?
Thanks,
Maureen
