So, I'm 18. I just started birth control October 5 (I procrastinated having my first "lady doctor" appointment)

& I was just wondering how long you should wait before having unprotected sex after starting the pill?

I see a lot of people say a week, but just asking for a little extra advice!

My doctor told me, you have to take it at the same time every day for it at least to be 98% effective.

Depending if its your first time ever taking pills, if it is. Wait three months before you start having unprotected sex. Just be careful because I've seen a lot of people still getting pregnant being on the pill.

If it isn't your first time on the pill it should take about a month.

Just make sure to set a alarm on your phone for when to take your birth control it always helps me to take it at the same time every day. That way it's the most effective!!

It takes a few months for a lot of women for it to fully take effect. But if you're not trying to get pregnant, you should never have unprotected sex. Birth control pills aren't 100% effective and I know a good few women that got pregnant while on the pill.
