I'm Asian and all my Asian friends and I wash our rice before cooking it...I don't see why you wouldn't want to wash it...

Asian and south Asian people typically rinse rice before cooking. My husband and I cook rice differently. He rinses, boils uncovered, drains. I don't rinse and I boil then cover and simmer on low until the water absorbs.

It depends on the kind of rice you're making, if you're making an Asian style rice that is supposed to be stickier & doing it in a rice cooker u have to wash the rice otherwise it won't cook properly, my hubs makes a lot of Japanese dishes & I definitely notice a difference if one of us rushes the washing, prior to our relationship though I was making Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's in a pot on the stove & was not washing the rice :)

Thats like my bf washes all his meat before he cooks it (all meat from chicken to fish to steak) and im like wtf is wrong with you what are you doing?! He's like everyone rinses off their meat and im like uhm nooo😂😂
