Do you need to be financially well off to be a mom?

I want to be a mom, but I'm not very wealthy, should I still consider becoming a mother?

I don't believe anybody is ever truly financially ready. Baby's cost a lot of money but somehow you seem to make ends meet and do what you have to

You need to be financially stable and have enough to support yourself and your child. You should also be emotionally and mentally prepared for the work that comes along with motherhood.

My husband and I are poor. We live off of his income because I stay home with her. It's hard. But we make it work. What's important that baby is fed and kept clean. It doesn't matter how much money you have as long as there's enough to take care of your child.

I think you need to be able to afford the medical bills of having a baby and have the means to keep them healthy (food, clothes, check ups, car seat ect) and have an independent home (even if it is just a little apartment), but you definitely don't need to be rich and if you wait to be, you may miss out. And actually, I know mothers who didn't have any of the things I listed and are still great moms of happy kids, it's just that their lives are extremely stressful and they have to depend heavily on others to provide their babies with basic needs which is hard as mom.

My mom had 3 kids, 2 jobs and no husband and we had a freakin great time! Yes we were broke and my mom worked tirelessly for us, but we learned some pretty incredible values from her, and seeing her work so hard for her family makes me believe that I can be a great mom too! I am financially stable, married, have a great little apartment, it just feels like the right time! As long as you can make it to the next paycheck having all your bills paid, minimal debt, a good job, and a stable roof over your head I think you will be just fine!

You should be mentally and emotionally ready, and have insurance. If you can afford a crib and other essentials then you're fine. My SO and I are not financially stable (we have everything baby needs, but we moved in with my parents in their basement suit (paying rent) to save money). Is this ideal? No, but my child means to world to me and my family. 💜
