Is getting pregnant actually that hard?

I've been wondering if it's easy to just up and get pregnant. I know anything can happen when your have no protection, but what are the actual odds of ending up pregnant? Do they have to actually produce sperm inside of you? Or is that not enough? Or is it easier than that? I'd just like to be more informed, thank you!

If you have sex on or around ovulation and he ejaculates inside you, best case you have about 30% chance of getting pregnant. 
If you have sex not around ovulation this drops significantly but best case is around 3O% per month

When you look at the technicalities of conception it's actually not great odds most of the time, accidents do happen but even on our most fertile days/hours the chances are only ever as high as 50%. There are so many factors to consider and variables that must align for conception to actually occur.

It depends on the couple really. If they're both healthy in that respect and complete vaginal intercourse in the proper time frame without anything that could get in the way of conception they still only have a 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 chance of conception.
One sperm swimming from the vagina, through the cervix and the uterus, up one of two fallopian tubes, to an ovary and finding one single egg before it gets tired or the egg goes bad then burrowing inside. Pretty impressive.

My partner and I broke up 2years ago then got back together which resulted in me getting off the pill. I fell pregnant in march this year and we weren't using anything except the pulling out technique (obvs does not work). It just depends on your body whether you're a very fertile person or less so. But you'll never really know that until you fall pregnant. So it's a big chance thing I think.
