I schedule my exam with the gynecologist I am super nervous!!! I've never been to one. They didn't ask me the reason for the visit which I would like to be on birth control. Do I just bring this up during the appointment? What should I expect? And how do I calm my nerves?! 😱😱😱😱

I was nervous before my first exam too. They'll have you put on a paper gown and put your feet up in stirrups for an examination. It won't last too long. The doctor will probably bring up birth control anyway, but it's fine if you bring it up first as well. They do this all day every day so you don't need to be self conscious or anything.

You can bring it up during the appointment, no need to address it before. Your doctor can talk to you about different options and what would work best for you. I was nervous the first time, too, years ago. But it was surprisingly not so bad so don't worry! My doctors have always been very nice, physically it's at worst the teensiest bit uncomfortable, and you get over the general weirdness of it once you've done it and you realize they do this all day, everyday and aren't fazed by it at all.
