How long is your "play time" with your LO?
I'm a FTM and my LO is almost 8 weeks old.
He's awake sometimes and we have play time but he soon gets fussy and cries because he's sleepy or falls back asleep on his own. Is this normal? Should he be awake more often at this stage? Or when will he start staying awake and playing longer?

My LO is 9 weeks old and he is usually not awake more than 1.5hrs before going back to sleep. He eats, burps, gets his diaper changed and then "plays" for 20-30 minutes maximum before he gets fussy because he is sleepy. Sometimes it's only 10-15 minutes of playing after he eats and gets changed. Sometimes he does fight sleep too even when he is tired and fussy he may take 30 minutes to fall asleep for a nap. Either way I do try to keep him awake after his daytime feedings for at least a few minutes so he knows the difference between day time and night time.

My son is almost 11aeeks and I'm having a hard time keeping him asleep. He's got really interested in his toys over the past week and finds his room too exciting for sleep xx

My 8w old is also almost never awake more than 1.5hrs. I usually start getting her ready for nap after an hour of awake time.

She wakes from a nap, I feed her, change her diaper, then play until she gets fussy or until an hour has passed, then I swaddle her, give her her paci, and rock her to sleep (she usually fusses through this.)

Omg so lucky that he will fall asleep like that. At this age, probably no more than an hour and a half awake at a time is ideal. My lo fights sleep and we have gone 5 hours awake because she is overtired! I would follow her lead. She sounds like a great baby!
