If you get an epidural, but give birth vaginally is it still "natural"?

Does it really matter? The goal is a healthy mom and baby. It isn't a competition.

Yes it is natural. Baby still comes out of your vagina naturally. Your choice of pain control is just all an epidural is. Same as when you get a filling done, you get numbed first cuz it hurts! Or when you have a headache or break a bone or sprain something.

Everyone looks at it different you had a medicated vaginal birth, natural vaginal birth is no meds you feel everything all pain all contractions, thats how i look at it

I was just going to make a poll like this.... but no, I do not consider a birth "natural" if you get any medications: cervical softening meds, pitocin, epidural, etc...

I wouldn't consider it to be "natural".

However I also am not affected by the way that someones baby is brought into the world and will be having an epidural first chance I get when it's my turn. My best friend is going "natural". My other friend had a c-section.

If someone is willing to shame you over how you give birth than it really tells you what kind of person they are.

Ugh yeah when I have went too the doctor for a check up or my yearly pap test they would ask me how many natural births I have had I said two but I had an epidural they looked at me did you have a vaginal birth or C-section I said vaginal they said okay then you had two natural births then even if I did have an epidural

To me natural means an unmedicated vaginal birth.
