is bad if I don't swaddle?

Ok my baby is one week old. He hates being swaddled I will not sleep at night because of it. I stopped swaddling and he's been sleeping the 2 hours! He used to wake up every 45 min 😭 so my question is.. is it bad for the baby if I don't swaddle him? Even tho mine sleeps better without being swaddled?

Mine was never swaddled outside the hospital because he HATED it....it's not a requirement that you have to swaddle. Babys are individuals that like different things.

My son didn't like swaddling until 4 months old.  Lol its not a necessity if your baby doesn't like it,  he doesn't like it.

i havent swaddled my baby since we took her home :) .. i started swaddling her when she couldnt get sleep straight at night but she didnt like it anyway lol

No, its a good thing in my eyes! My girl was swaddled since birth....and now at 4m she wouldnt sleep without it....so I had to buy a Merlin's magic sleep suit to transition out of the swaddle. She does great in it.... But once she starts rolling good I need to transition out of that too! So if your baby is good without it.....AWESOME!

You don't have it. Some people find it helps their babies so if it doesn't work for you then that's okay. My baby doesn't like her arms swaddled so I use a halo sleepsack I got from the hospital

Definitely not necessary. My little one hated it. He likes to stretch his arms and legs out when he sleeps. We only tried a few nights and realized it was making things worse. For us, he just got used to his hands and hitting himself with his hands in his sleep. he's 4.5 months old now and has slept through the night since 2 months old.

My baby hated being swaddled when she was first born, she always wanted her hands by her face. I started swaddling her from 3 months where she was instantly calmed by it. It's completely normal and I wouldn't stress about it.

I never swaddled. In the UK it's not a huge thing anyway I figured if she wasn't bothered I'd leave it. It's just another thing you have to get them out of eventually!
