Would you recommend getting an IUD?

For those of you who have or have had an IUD, would you reccomend it to a friend? Please comment with your reasons why.

My IUD was my best friend.  I never had any complications, didn't have to worry about contraception (like the pill), and my period became extremely light (it was 7 days turned into 3 then disappeared altogether).  I was on the Mirena IUD for two cycles and will go back on it after I have a baby! I always recommend to my girlfriends 💕

I had the mirena, I loved it and will be getting it after this preg. It stopped my period hormones and I ended up with an occasional couple day period every few months. It hurt being inserted but a few hot baths and I was fine. It coming out I didn't even feel

I was in excruciating pain with heavy heavy bleeding for months. The doctor who put it in, refused to take it out so I had to suffer until I could find a doctor who would. I'll never get it again.

I got pregnant with mine in. It had been in for a year. I ended up having a high risk pregnancy because it was embedded in the womb lining for my whole pregnancy. 
It didn't come out with the afterbirth and I had to have an operation to remove it. 
And I've heard a lot of stories of them coming out, going missing, people getting pregnant on them.

Some people like them though but it didn't work for me. I have a lovely 3 and a half year old instead ☺️😂❤️

I have a copper IUD

Pros-I love not having to worry about taking a pill or switching a patch etc
-it can be left in for up to ten years!
-one of the most highly effective birth controls 
-didn't gain any weight on it

Cons-HORRIBLE periods. My periods went from being 3-5 days longer and barely noticeable to now being upwards of 10 days long with a super heavy flow. I have to wear a super tampon and a pad at the same time and will soak through both within a couple hours. Plus my periods come every twoish weeks. I'm thinking of having it removed for this very reason.

I spotted for many months after getting mirena inserted. It was annoying. It worked though and definitely decreased the monthly blood flow and cramps. I think it may have given me a small infection (there was an odd smell that only I noticed sometimes and it drove me bonkers. Gross!) at some point but I can't be sure.
