BFP, now what?! help?

So I just got my bfp a few days ago and I realized I'm at a total lost at what I'm supposed to do now. I went to the clinic and the doctors there gave me a referral to another doctor at an actual hospital. She hasn't called me back yet. I think I want to give birth at a birth centre though so how do I go about that and do I still go see this doctor? Ftm so I'm all confused, sorry if it's a silly question

You don't have to go to the doctor they referred. And I wouldn't go to a doctor who didn't have their own practice outside of the hospital they deliver at. The first thing you should do is contact your insurance company and see what they need from you, what they cover (midwife vs OBGYN), and how much it will cost to add your baby to your insurance once born. Next, they will have a referral list, or you go on Google and search Top OBGYNs for (your city and state). I do not recommend offices with multiple doctors (your doctor may not be on call when you go into labor), I also call all the offices I'm considering (a nd one that goes directly to an automated system where I have to press numbers, gets taken off the list Immediately) The phone should go directly to a person at their office, seriously I shouldn't have to press one to say I am an existing patient... Or to speak English. Once you set up your first visit, they will ask for the first day of your last period, and they will give you an estimated due date. Doctors wrap their heads around this date if they have too many patients, but its more like a due week or due month. And it's all still a guess, because not everyone has a regular menstrual/ovulation cycle. I prefer a doctor who doesn't see you until 12 weeks, at which point you don't need a vaginal ultrasound and you can hear the heart beat with a doppler. I don't like ultrasounds, but to each their own. They will take your blood and do tests. They will give you information in cord blood banking, don't do it. It's crazy expensive, and they should do delayed cord clamping to prevent anemia in your baby. You will be given resources on adoption and abortion, because you have a Right to Know, regardless of what you choose. There's so much information, just pick a care provider you feel happy with. Birth centers are awesome, but may not be covered by your insurance. I had to pay out of pocket for my midwife who didn't end up delivering my baby at my house. RESEARCH

Prenatal care is required in the US and you can pretty much go anywhere. Find a woman's clinic and read the reviews on all the OB GYN Dr or Midwives and choose one. Our Hospital has a family birth center so it was easy for me. I could have stayed with my Primary Dr for all of my prenatal care and delivery but I choose to go to an Obstetrician because I liked the idea of my Provider specializing in Pregnancy and Delivering babies! It's a super easy process so don't stress. Most Doctors won't even see you till 8 weeks after your LMP. You got time enjoy your initial excitement. Soon you will have Morning sickness, weight gain and a million Dr appts to go to.  Enjoy every minute of it! At times it seems you will be pregnant forever but in the end it goes by so fast! Congrats your gonna be a Mommy!

Call birth center and set up an appointment. where I'm from you don't continue seeing a doctor once you transfer to a birth center, you switch over to midwife care. They usually don't want you seeing both, so it's always one or the other.as long as you get prenatal care though, all will be fine :). You're still early so you still have time, don't stress!
