car seat manual says behind passenger???

I thought the middle was safest but my car manual says behind passenger seat. What is everyone else doing, following the manual or setting up in the middle?

Middle is often considered safest because if there is a side impact, your baby would be more likely not to be hit. However, your particular car manual will tell you what is safest for your vehicle. The engineers that wrote that manual have done many tests to prove which position is considered safest. If your car manual says behind passenger, that's where it needs to go. 
Also, this really isn't something anyone wants to think about, but, if anything were to happen that you feel was the car's fault regarding your car seat/baby, you wouldn't be able to sue the company because you failed to place the seat where the company stated was the appropriate space.

Follow the manual. It was written and vetted by engineers whose entire job it was to determine the safety of that decision. Also if you put the child in the middle there is no protection from debris coming in from the front through the windshield.

Behind passenger. I thought that was normal? Middle would go straight through to windscreen if in crash?

Our manual said middle is best, and so did the nurse at the hospital.  Mainly because it's the farthest away in the case of a side impact crash.

Ours will go behind the driver side......ONLY because we already have our 2 year olds car seat behind the passenger side. Our car isn't big enough to squeeze babies in the middle. I mean our car is new, it's just not big enough for that lol.

Most car seats will tell you to consult your cars handbook on the best place to put a car seat in that model. If the manual says behind the passenger seat then that's probably where you need to put it.

Our cars back seat is so damn small we have to put ours in the kiddle, and I have to push my seat way up.

I wanted an SUV because I knew we wanted kids soon but nooooo. Had to get a tiny car like my father in law likes.

But I'm not bitter about it or anything... 😂

My car seat is in the middle because that is what the car seat manual and my vehicles manual said. I always check both because some cars are not built for the set to be in the middle. If there is a difference I would definitely look for someone who is trained on proper installment of car seats to help you out.

I highly recommended looking to see if you have a car seat tech in your area.. I am a certified car seat tech and it really depends on the vehicle and the car seat.. Middle is safe... Side is safe.... Everything is safe If you follow the car seat manual and your car manual.
Fb also has a great group called car seats for the littles. Car seat techs who will give I correct info on car seat installation..

I think behind passenger is probably most convenient bc you can reach back if need me.

We put ours in the middle.
