maternity allowance help!?!

I haven't heard anything about my maternity allowance
I sent my forms off when I was 28 weeks pregnant and I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant and I've heard nothing of them. I've had no letter off them saying if I'm entitled to it or anything... I've just had a text message 2 weeks ago today saying; "We cannot pay your Maternity Allowance until we have updated your ESA claim. This can take up to two weeks. We will tell you when we have done this. You do not need to contact us."I don't know what to do? Do I ring them or leave it? Me and my partner are struggling as we are only living off his income

I would ring them. It's been 7 weeks since your oringinal claim so it should really have been sorted out for you by now.

Is it statutory maternity your claiming or work paid maternity? Are you already on maternity leave? If you are and aren't being paid your ma I'd definitely ring. I sent my forms off at like 32 weeks (statutory) and mine was sorted by the time I gave birth at 37 weeks. Just ring and ask to be updated on what's happening they are usually more than happy to help.

Thanks guys, managed to get it sorted with them, said they get back to me in couple of days so hopefully will hear from them, if not it's another phone call to them! Haha xx
