so i'm a 19 virgin and i've been with my boyfriend for 6 months on saturday. i really trust him and i love him and i think im ready to have sex but im honestly scared by the pain part of it. did anyone have an actual good experience their first time? will it definitely hurt badly or is there something we could do?

I agree that I didn't necessarily think it was painful my first time (I was 20). But I think just having communication is huge too!! If he needs to slow down or stop for a second so that you can relax or breathe or anything, TELL HIM!!! It's not all about him! That was a huge help for me :)

Your first time shouldn't hurt, but there are exceptions. Make sure that you have a good amount of foreplay, at least 20 minutes of stuff that feels good for YOU, not just him. Absolutely make sure that you are as wet as wet can be, and don't be afraid to use lube (only use water-based lube with latex condoms!!). Also communicate. Tell him what feels good, what feels meh, and what definitely hurts or feels uncomfortable. If he won't listen, and just does whatever he feels like, shut the whole thing down. Sex where your partner refuses to communicate will always suck big time, and just make you feel ridiculous.

If you feel that you're super turned on, but it still hurts to have vaginal sex, whatever you do, don't force it!! You could really hurt yourself, and there's a condition called vaginismus that causes painful contractions during sexual intercourse. Also sometimes it just takes a while to work up to full penetration. Don't rush yourselves and just enjoy being together and learning about each other's bodies. Oral sex (with protection!) is always option, as well as just getting handsy.

my first time didn't hurt at all, but it does vary between people. like other people said make sure you do lots of foreplay!! it really really helps. if it hurts the first time it only gets better each time you do it. me and my boyfriend did it everyday for a week and by the end of the week it felt amazing! good luck and have fun 😊
