Braxton Hicks or real labor???

I'm a FTM and I'm 37w and 1d today. This morning I started having contractions around 445am. I waited to see if they progressed or got worse which they didn't get worse but they became more consistent. About 5-6 mins apart. I wasn't in any pain also no blood or signs of my water breaking so I didn't go to hospital.. I took a nap and showered and I was still having them so we went to labor and delivery around 330pm where they monitored me for an hour and a half and my contractions stopped being consistent!? I'm just wondering if any moms had contractions all day long with no progress? Nurse said I'm not dilated at all. I was also having contractions as I was leaving the hospital and on the way home
