Do you wake up your sleeping newborn baby to feed?

Please feel free to comment on what has been working for you! My baby is 9 days old and doing wonderful. I just feed him when he wants. He also frequently falls asleep after 1side. Change his diaper in between in attempt to wake him up. I'm just trying to see if I could get a little more sleep somehow. 😜

I don't wake her up but if she sleeps longer than three hours I will wake up to pump, just to make sure as to not hurt my precious milk supply!!!

If your baby is not premmie and gaining weight you don't need to wake them for a feed. just enjoy your sleep :)

I feedon demand which is always every 1-2 hours during the day. At night the longest he sleeps is 3 hours.

For the first 2 weeks I did ever 1-2 hours. I went by demand and she usually one herself up to eat. But I wouldn't let her go past 2. Now I let her do by demand during the day without passing 2-2.5 and then at night without passing 3-3.5. We are almost 4 weeks now.

My 12 day old baby girl wakes up when she's hungry, she gained 10 ozs in nine days after birth so I don't feel the need to wake her up especially since I can't force her to eat if she's not hungry

I make sure she eats at least every 3 hours throughout the day, but I never wake her throughout the night.

At my baby's check up today the doctor said that once baby surpasses their birth weight and are at least two weeks old, then it's no longer necessary to wake them to eat. Prior to that, wake at least every 3 hours!

I didn't set an alarm or anything, but if I woke up and noticed it had been about 3 hours I would feed her. But once she regained her birth weight at her 2 week visit, I let her sleep. If she has a really long stretch at night (5 hours or more) I'll feed her closer together throughout the day to make sure we get at least 8 feedings in a 24 hour span.

I do if he goes over 4 hours (which is rare). Mostly because if I don't, he will want to feed back to back later in the day
