When should I tell my family?

I'm almost 6 weeks along. I've told my 2 best friends and my boyfriend. I'm not really trying to tell my family just yet because they'll freak out lol and not in a good way even though I'm 27. I figured I'd tell them at christmas. I'd put an ultra sound picture in a card and give it to them lol I should be around 16 weeks by Christmas. I'm super nervous though

I waited until around 11-12 weeks, after the nuchal test to make sure everything was alright.

I am 23 and my boyfriend is 25, this is an unplanned pregnancy and though our relationship is stable as can be, financially we are not. I was terrified to tell our families because I thought I knew they would all be very concerned for us. I waited until 12 weeks to tell anyone, 13 weeks when I got around to all of them (we both have divorced and remarried parents). It went way way better than I could have imagined! Everyone was supportive and happy and literally none of them even asked us one question out of concern. The only thing any of them thought about was their new grandparent names and clothes and baby shoes etc etc! I did get lots of comments after and from more extended family that it was crazy for us to keep it a secret from our parents so long. I didn't realize how uncommon that was! Personally, I think 12 weeks, the end of the 1st trimester, is really the latest you can tell your immediate family without them feeling kind of miffed about being kept in the dark. But if you really really think the longer you wait the better go for it! It's your pregnancy and your timeline!

We are nervous to tell our families too! Waiting until Thanksgiving to tell our parents. That way we can tell them in person.. Not sure why we are so nervous! I'm sure it's just normal:) We're 6 weeks 6 days.
