Bumper pads for cribs?

Question

I have seen many mommas nursery on here with bumper pads. I was under the impression that they are dangerous for baby. Do people have different beliefs?

Not trying to put anyone down or anything. Just curious.

I have a mesh breathable one for my crib but my baby won't be sleeping in her crib until she's old enough to pick herself up etc she'll be sleeping next to us in her pack and play the first few months.

They increase sids risk.  I wouldn't use them.

We use the mesh one for our 1 year old. I had it on there when she was a newborn (she's our first baby) but honestly she didn't even need it until about 7 months when she was rolling and kicking around in the crib. It's cute decoration now but so annoying when you have to change the crib sheet all the time because then it falls down - we'll wait until about 6-7 months to put our November babies bumper on 😊

We have a mesh one but with our son he slept in the bassinet in our room until he slept through the night at 6 months, so by then he was pretty mobile. I wasn't too worried about him smashing his face in bumper, he could just roll away

I think it's another "to each their own", but my understanding is that most moms use it for decor,  not when baby is sleeping in there.  We are using that mesh,  breathable one.  Love it.

I don't have any on mine. There are blankets hanging on it but those won't be staying.

I used a rail cover instead. But I'm also using an arms reach co sleeper in my bedroom the first few weeks.
