what's a good diet when breastfeeding?

Poking for anyone who wants to share what they've been eating while breastfeeding, or common foods to stay away from.

I want to try and avoid upset tummy as much as possible, and I way to make sure he's getting good nutrients!

Chocolate I've found bothers my son. I can have some, but I have to make sure not to overdue it if I'm close to feeding him or pumping. Other than that, I eat what I want.

I tried to eat more good fats like fish (varieties low in mercury), avocados, and nuts. If you're worried about upsetting your LO's tummy, you may try avoiding brassicas (Brussels sprouts, cabbage, etc) because they can cause gas.

I honestly eat anything since I read there are no limits to what mother can eat. But I do make everything at home, I don't really go out to eat. So since the taste transfers through breastmilk he'll get used to the food we typically eat at home. I personally haven't found he gets an upset tummy with anything I ate. I lost all my prego weight and 10lbs extra. I do eat a lot of veggies and fruits just cuz that's what I really like with all my meals. All babies are different though, so just watch if he gets gassy after you eat something and you'll know. I wouldn't worry about following a diet so much, just make sure you eat like you would normally be eating. Get all your grains, meats (if you eat them), fruits, veggies, dairy, and keep taking your prenatals while BF they are a life saver. 💚
