baby food question!!!

my 6 month old has been on purée baby food for only a month now. We attempted it when he was 4 months but his belly just wasn't ready for it and he got sick every time we gave it to him! All that to say how long should I stay on stage 1 baby foods seeing as he didn't start until 6 months?
