How to make it stop hurting to insert a tampon?

I never had a issue before and I been using tampons for awhile but this cycle it hurts to insert and to take it out so I just put a pad on I know so gross (TMI) I haven't done anything different so idk what going on .... I know I'm tight (in general down there) but normally I have no problems opinions help me

Maybe this cycle is just lighter. So you might need a smaller tampon

Try kegel exercises:

You can do this before inserting a tampon, inserting it slowly, pausing and doing more, until you feel your pelvic floor muscles ease off and moving in slowly. This is also applicable to sex and fingering.
